Sort-Lock Groups command (View menu)

Use this command to cause groups to stay sorted even when a Summary Window is sorted by a different column. By default, this option is selected.

A group is a sorted column that has nodes that can be expanded or collapsed. The Executable, Folder, and File columns are initially each groups when a new Summary Window is created. When this option is selected, if you sort by another column (by clicking on the column header), these groups will stay sorted and the new column will be sorted within the groups.

For example, if you click on the header for the Hit column, then the procedures within each file (within each folder within each executable) will be sorted by the number of bytes Hit. The ordering of entries in the Executable, Folder, and File columns will not change.

If the Sort-Lock Groups option is not selected, then sorting on another column will "break apart" the groups. The selected column will become the overriding sort key, superseding the groups. For example, if you sort by Size, then the procedures will be listed from smallest to largest regardless of which executable, folder, or file they came from.

You can easily restore some or all of the groups. Simply select the Sort-Lock Groups option and then sort by the columns you would like to group.
